Yuba College 30-second Ad “I Belong”

You can make short cinematic ads like this that capture the essence of your organization for a reasonable cost.

The core idea of the ad — that Yuba College is a place of inclusivity for all — is simple and powerful.

The marketing team at Yuba College came up with this idea and several different phrases that supported it, like “I belong,” and “You belong too.”

Then one videographer shot with the students for one day recording these statements.

The equipment used was one camera on a gimbal with a lavalier mic and a large, white silk fabric to either bounce or diffuse the sunlight.

No additional lights or grip gear was used.

In post-production, old footage from their last graduation was repurposed.

Artlist.io was used to find great, royalty free music at a low price.

And because the ad is only 30 seconds, it took less time for the editor to put it together.

These were some of the ways this ad was created quickly, efficiently, and at cost.

One of the best things about it also is that it is evergreen.

Inclusivity is a pillar of Yuba College and they can share this video for years to come and continue to see the benefit of it.

Lastly, one of my favorite things about this ad and this type of advertising is that it is a win-win for everyone involved.

While the school’s enrollment numbers go up, new students find community and belonging in addition to access to higher education.
